Project Description:

This tank was the 40th storage tank installation project at this terminal for which SPEC provided planning and engineering. The project included the installation of a transmix truck loading rack with related metering and control equipment. The containment area around the existing transmix tank required modification to accommodate the additional volume stored in the tank and the grading solution enabled the economical installation of the new truck loading rack. SPEC provided engineering, design, permitting, and procurement services for this project.

Development of the area where the tanks are located required relocation of a significant number of underground pipelines and electrical utilities before grading or soil improvement operations could begin. Additionally, grading and tank construction operations were required to be conducted in a very constrained area. Similar to the Six Tanks and Seven Tanks projects, the soil beneath the transmix tank needed to be improved using concrete deep soil mixing.
