Project Description:

SPEC Services performed front end engineering, detailed engineering, design, construction support, operator training and startup support to replace aging equipment and increase the oil, water and gas separation capacity of this oil, water, and gas separation facility.

SPEC completed a Front End Engineering Development Report identifying options for the replacement of seven mechanical treaters and three FWKOs. SPEC coordinated pilot dehydration tests with which resulted in identifying a dual polarity crude dehydration process as the optimum technology for treating this crude oil. Ultimately, three FWKOs and seven mechanical treaters were replaced by two FWKOs and two Dual Polarity Treaters while providing 100% backup capacity for oil separation and dehydration. No backup capacity was provided with the 10 original vessels.

Detailed engineering, design, construction, and startup was split into two phases. Phase 1 included demolition of existing equipment to clear space and the installation of the first FWKO and Dual Polarity Treater. Phase 1 equipment startup was completed in 2012. Phase 2 included additional demolition to clear space and the installation of the second FWKO and Dual Polarity Treater. Phase 2 equipment startup was completed in 2013.
